The stop occurred Friday, Nov. 30 after a motorist called 911 to alert authorities of a black Jeep that had been driving erratically on Danbury Road. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Cricket Lane.
During the traffic stop, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle’s driver, 55-year-old Rusty McClintock, who admitted to officers that he had “a couple of shots.”
McClintock was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police also found a variety of liquor bottles in both the front and back of his vehicle, some of them still full.
McClintock was then arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer. McClintock posted $250 cash bond and was released.
